Hi, this is one of the Flyingpilots here, i have made this website, I would like to clarify some doubts that you may have regarding me.
I have not made this site because i am too intelligent with the aviation subject, i am an average guy with a fair amount of knowledge and i know that too, as i have met many intelligent people in aviation, but i guess it is better for a average person to write something about the subject with the fair amount of knowledge that he has, than a very intelligent person who has tremendous amount of knowledge to write nothing about it.
I know here must have been many mistakes made by me in making this website, as i am just a novice and am nowhere near the perfection but am trying to improve myself constantly, there are many senior and junior readers who will find their hands on this website, i urgently request them to send their suggestions and views about this website and how it can be improved further.
I have made this website because when i was studying to become a airline pilot i could not find a single book to read in brief to give information about the stuff that is really required to get through airline exams.
All the available books burn a big hole in all of your pockets, even then either the books don’t touch the subject adequately or they went so deep that i entirely got lost in the formulas, i mean there are of course very good books available to read, but spending thousands of rupees on books doesn’t look like a good idea to me, especially when for a single subject one has to buy a set of 4-5 books costing tens of thousands of rupees, and spending the same amount on another subject again.
I believe you must buy all of those books, but only if you’re planning to become a test pilot who’s gonna hop into a mig- 29, and the next hour gonna fly a baron with a stuck flaps on one wing, the only problem here is that you have to look for a point in many books to totally understand what the author meant to say, at least in my case it happened, i could not get stuff into my head, until i really worked many days and nights over it, and going over many books.
I guess it’s probably because it was written by some extremely intelligent writers, for whom the mathematical expressions and advanced aerodynamics were like a mother tongue, and while discussing aerodynamics they used words for which i had to recall my memory from previous chapters, to make out what did he meant.
Come on Guys, You want to fly the Machine, not build it from the scratch.
I decided to make this website for my Colleagues, Aviation friends, and anybody interested in Aviation so that they can be benefitted from it, it was a long dream of mine to write on such a medium.
I have been to many places for appearing the exams of airlines entrance and exams, I always wished I could carry just one book that would refresh my memory about the aerodynamics, give me a pinch of Navigation, remind me something about thunderstorms, about aircraft instruments, radio aids etc.
I know of course Aviation is such a wide subject that no book can comprise everything in it, even having thousands of books do not content Aviation, it is like an endless sky, that has no limits.
I have still tried to cover most of the areas that I found helpful in the last minute preparations for the airline exams and interview, please don’t rely entirely upon this book, it is just a sincere effort from your friend to help you improve your knowledge. Be prepared thoroughly for everything, this is just a insight of the stuff that I have collected over the years, some of the material is what I remember from my friends and instructors, I wanted to share my knowledge, my experiences with Aviators.
I will feel obliged if this book helps you understand any point more clearly. Finally best of luck for your career, I hope we see you climbing the stairs to the cockpit soon; I am hoping that for myself as well.
Regards,
Flyingpilots
